SkyWest Airlines proudly announces that they rank number one in
on-time performance for 2003 with 87.6 percent of their flights
arriving on-time according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s
Air Travel Consumer Report. The report tracks the top 18 domestic
air carriers’ performance on a monthly basis.
Added by the DOT in January of 2003, SkyWest received this honor in their first year appearing on the report. One of only five regional carriers
included on the report, SkyWest’s on-time performance bests many of the largest airlines in the world.
“What a tremendous time it is for SkyWest,” said Jerry Atkin, SkyWest Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. “For SkyWest to earn the number
one on-time airline in the United States is a significant honor for our airline. This accomplishment rests solely on the dedicated men and women who
each day, set the standard for exceptional customer service.”
“To be named the number one on-time airline in a year when we carried our record number of passengers is quite an achievement,” said Ron Reber, Chief
Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for SkyWest. “This validates our commitment to operational excellence, a SkyWest tradition.”
Founded in 1972, SkyWest Airlines carried 10.7 million passengers in 2003 and is the nation’s largest independently owned regional airline. SkyWest operates
as Continental Connection, Delta Connection, and United Express under marketing agreements with Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines
respectively. System-wide, SkyWest has approximately 6,000 employees and serves a total of 105 cities in 27 states and three Canadian provinces with
more than 1,200 daily departures.
