Utah, May 1, 2003 – SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc.
(NASDAQ: SKYW), will begin service between Reno and San Francisco
on May 5, 2003. SkyWest will fly under the United Express banner utilizing
the Bombardier manufactured Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ200).
"We are delighted about the additional frequency to San Francisco offered by
United Airlines Express Carrier SkyWest Airlines," said Krys T. Bart, Executive Director
of the Reno/Tahoe International Airport. "The added frequencies offer improved
convenience for many of our business customers as well as important connections to
key domestic and international markets at United's west coast hub," she said.
As a United Express carrier, SkyWest currently operates 89 daily departures out
of United's San Francisco hub, connecting United passengers to more than 220 daily
flights on United's worldwide system.
Known for its convenience, comfort and speed, the CRJ200 carries passengers
in a two-by-two seating arrangement; every seat is an aisle or window, with no middle
seats. The plane can cruise at a speed of 530 mph at altitudes as high as 41,000 feet
and is recognized as the quietest commercial jet aircraft in the world.
SkyWest Airlines is the nation's largest independently operated regional carrier.
SkyWest operates as United Express under a marketing agreement with United Airlines.
SkyWest serves 61 cities for United with more than 630 daily flights across the United States.
