SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. (NASDAQ: SKYW) is proud to be celebrating 35 years of air service in San Diego. As Sun Aire, SkyWest began service from San Diego to Los Angeles in December of 1968. Today, as the exclusive United Express carrier in San Diego, SkyWest provides 22 daily roundtrip flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

San Diego has played an integral role in the growth and success of SkyWest. In 35 years, San Diego has seen multiple SkyWest service options. SkyWest began flying as Sun Aire, then transitioned to flying under their own SkyWest banner. SkyWest has also served San Diego as Western Express for Western Airlines, Delta Connection for Delta Air Lines and Continental Connection for Continental Airlines. Presently, SkyWest provides San Diego with service as United Express for United Airlines.

SkyWest staffs the San Diego International Airport with 54 locally based customer service employees who collectively have more than 270 years of customer service experience with the airline. Additionally, SkyWest also maintains a pilot and flight attendant domicile in San Diego with more than 70 crewmembers stationed in here.

“I feel honored to work for such a great company and with such great people,” said Connie Adams, SkyWest’s San Diego Station Manager and 14 year employee. “Our rich history in San Diego has definitely been instrumental in propelling SkyWest into our future successes. Our faithful local customers have grown to expect exceptional customer service when they fly our airline. We look forward to continuing the great tradition of customer service we have established here.”

In their monthly Air Travel Consumer Report, the US Department of Transportation has recognized SkyWest as the number one on-time airline seven of the last nine reported months. San Diego has significantly contributed to that honor by exceeding on-time performance goals each month in 2003. The San Diego station has a long history of excellent performance standards. In 1999, they received SkyWest’s prestigious Station of the Year award.

SkyWest Airlines is the nation's largest independently owned regional carrier and carried 8.23 million passengers last year. SkyWest operates as Continental Connection, Delta Connection and United Express carriers under marketing agreements with Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines respectively. System-wide, SkyWest has approximately 5,700 employees and serves a total of 105 cities in 26 states and three Canadian provinces with more than 1,200 daily departures.
