CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT- Professional Development Career Guide


Customer Service Agents are responsible for ticketing and re-booking passengers, boarding flights, assisting special needs passengers, resolving customer complaints and other duties as delegated. They are also responsible to consistently present a professional and positive image of SkyWest Airlines.

To be considered for a Customer Service Agent position, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Good communication skills
  • High School graduate or GED Must be a U.S. citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S.
  • Type 30 words-per-minute
  • Proficient use of computer
  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Ability to lift 30-60 pounds depending on location and assigned job duties
  • Able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints
  • Self-motivated and Team Player
  • Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules
  • Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history and pre-employment drug test
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist all customers in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner
  • Present a professional and positive image of SkyWest Airlines
  • Provide check-in assistance, ticketing, reservations, re-booking of itineraries, and boarding passes for passengers
  • Checking and acceptance of passenger luggage
  • Boarding flights and escorting passengers to aircraft as needed, including the pushing of wheelchairs
  • Comply with all safety procedures and station policies
  • Provide accurate gate information, flight arrival and departure information, as well as answer general inquires
  • Assist special needs passengers, resolve customer complaints and other duties as delegated
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and handling of unaccompanied minors, law enforcement officers, Hazmat, and airfreight acceptance guidelines
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with customers as well as ground and aircraft personnel
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned by Manager and Supervisor
