Sonya Wolford
is SkyWest’s Vice President of InFlight Operations. She is the first Vice President
of the InFlight department in the airlines’ 30-year history.
Sonya has been with SkyWest since 1995 and began her career as a Flight Attendant. She flew the line for eleven months before jumping
into management as the Manager of InFlight Training.
In 1997, the additional responsibilities of all SkyWest InFlight
recruitment was added to her list of duties. Sonya became the Director
of InFlight Services and Recruitment in 2000, and in 2001, was promoted
to Senior Director of InFlight Operations. Finally, in 2002, Sonya
was named as Vice President of InFlight Operations.
Sonya leads an increasingly growing InFlight team, which currently
consists of more than 1,000 flight attendants. When she joined the
airline in 1995, SkyWest only employed 200 flight attendants. Even
with the rapid growth of the department, Sonya has helped to ensure
that the quality of SkyWest’s InFlight product remains an
industry benchmark.
Sonya is no stranger to the travel and hospitality industry. Before
joining SkyWest, Sonya worked in the hotel industry for ten years.
She spent seven of those years working in management for the Red
Lion Hotel in Salt Lake City.
Sonya is actively involved in numerous flight attendant organizations.
She serves on the Executive Council for in-flight with the Regional
Airlines Association (RAA), and represents the RAA on the Airline
Transportation Association in-flight board. She is also a member
of the Gain Project; an organization that works for the benefit
of all flight attendants.
Sonya currently lives in Draper, Utah with her husband Bob and their two sons.
