Sonya Wolford is SkyWest’s Vice President of InFlight Operations; the first Vice President of the InFlight department in the airlines’ history. Sonya maintains her flight attendant qualifications and continues to work as a flight attendant on occasion to maintain a close connection to the SkyWest flight attendant group.
Sonya began her career as a Salt Lake City-based flight attendant in 1995. She soon became manager of InFlight Training, took on the additional responsibility for SkyWest’s InFlight recruitment and in 2000 was promoted to Director of InFlight Services and Recruitment. Sonya was named Vice President of InFlight Operations in 2002.
Sonya leads an increasingly growing InFlight team of more than 2,200 flight attendants stationed at 15 crew domiciles. When she joined the airline there were just 200 flight attendants. Through her leadership, the flight attendant group has progressed and implemented a number of innovative programs that ensure SkyWest delivers a quality product that remains an industry benchmark.
Sonya is actively involved in numerous flight attendant organizations and charities. She serves as co-chair on the Executive Council for InFlight with the Regional Airlines Association (RAA), and represents the RAA on the Airline Transportation Association InFlight board. She is also involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Gain Project; an organization that works for the benefit of all flight attendants and other community charities.
Sonya currently lives in Draper, Utah with her husband Bob and their two sons.
