H. Michael Gibson is the Vice President of Maintenance for SkyWest Airlines. Mike came to SkyWest in 1988 as the Director of Quality and was promoted to Vice President of Maintenance in 1990.
Mike brought to SkyWest a wide variety of experience from the airline industry which included work at Overseas National Airways (mechanic), US Civil Service (mechanic), Southern Airways (mechanic), Hawaiian Air Cargo (Director of Quality), Zantop International Airlines (Director of Quality), and Atlantic Southeast Airlines (Director of Quality). He also served in the U.S. Navy as a jet engine mechanic and has held the positions of Crew leader, Supervisor, Manager, Director of Quality and liaison with the FAA.
Mike's background includes line maintenance and overhaul maintenance on numerous aircraft types as well as the repair and overhaul of aircraft engines.
Mike graduated from South Georgia Tech, where he studied Airframe and Powerplant. He also attended numerous maintenance schools to work on aircraft such as the L188, DC9, CV640, DHC6, DHC7, EMB110, EMB120, SD360, Metro II and III and Canadair Regional Jets.
Mike is an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoys reading and rebuilding old cars. Mike and his wife Mary have two daughters, one son and seven grandchildren.
